🌿 What Is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome?

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is a group of inherited disorders that affect the body’s connective tissues — the "glue" that supports your skin, joints, blood vessels, and organs. While rare overall, hypermobile EDS (hEDS) is the most common form and is often underdiagnosed.

Many people with EDS live for years — or decades — without an official diagnosis, often being told their symptoms are “all in their head.” But we’re here to say: you’re not imagining it. And you’re not alone.

💢 Common Symptoms of EDS

  • Joint hypermobility (joints that move too far)

  • Frequent joint dislocations or subluxations

  • Chronic fatigue and pain

  • Stretchy or fragile skin

  • Digestive issues (IBS, bloating, gastroparesis)

  • Dizziness, anxiety, or POTS-like symptoms

  • Slow wound healing and easy bruising

While every person’s experience is unique, many EDS patients share one thing: a long and frustrating road to being believed.

🧬 Famous People with EDS – Raising Awareness

More people are beginning to share their EDS journeys publicly. Here are just a few:

  • Jameela Jamil, actress and activist, has hEDS and speaks openly about her joint issues and chronic pain.

  • Sia, the singer-songwriter, revealed her struggle with EDS and neurological pain.

  • Multiple chronic illness influencers on TikTok and YouTube raise daily awareness about living with EDS and other "invisible" illnesses.

Their stories help reduce the stigma and show that EDS does not define your worth, your strength, or your future.
